FAQ
Portrait Studio Orders
What am I actually buying when I order a pet portrait?
You’re buying a custom, hand-drawn digital portrait of your pet. You’ll send me a photo, I draw on my iPad, and then I email you a high-resolution digital art file. Your file can be used to make an 8x10 inch print at 300dpi. You can keep it, share it, print it yourself, or use it as the starting point for other products found in the Portrait Object section of the website.
Do you use AI at all?
For the actual artwork? Nope. Not even a pixel. Every Little Nose Studio portrait, name design, and illustrated piece is drawn by my actual human hand, attached to my actual human body, with my eyeballs looking at the photos sent to me.
But, I do admit that I use AI to help me write and to help with some mockups. There. My scandalous confession. Alert the village.
Does my portrait order include a physical print?
No. No physical print is included unless you also order a print or another physical product from the Portrait Object section of the website (later!).
This keeps the process simple: Portrait first, Objects second (and totally optional!).
Do I have to make my pet sit still for you?
Oh no! I'm not asking your dog to become a creepy doll in a velvet chair. (Although I might start offering a portrait style like this, haa!)
You just send photos you already have, or take a few casual ones in good light.
What if my photos aren't good enough?
I don't need perfect photos because I'm not using AI nor filters to just "cut out" your pet. As long as I can see fur colors, eye color, and fur pattern on the neck and chest help.
Also, if you are putting more than one pet into a portrait, it helps to see a photo that shows their relative sizes. Other than that I look at individual photos of each pet and then put them together in their portrait.
Do you create pet portraits as memorials?
Absolutely. And if you’ve lost a pet, my heart truly goes out to you. It is a devastating kind of grief, and one I know personally. My dog Stevie—whose little face appears throughout this website—passed away in July 2026.
If you’re considering a portrait for a grieving friend, I just want to say I really appreciate the thought behind that. I know how much comfort these things bring.
My portraits make especially joyful memorials. Rather than feeling formal or sombre, they’re designed to celebrate the pet’s personality — happy, colorful, sweet, and a little retro. The artwork can also be placed on different keepsakes, from a wall print to a pillow or T-shirt.
I don’t usually add birth and death dates beneath the portrait. My style focuses on the pet itself, often accompanied by their name, a flower, or a simple decorative shape — a remembrance that still feels bright.
What if I want something changed?
When you purchase a Signature Pet Portrait, I’ll send you a preview JPG before the final file is delivered.
That preview is your chance to make sure everything looks right and ask for small tweaks, like a color adjustment, a marking, or another small detail. Nothing is final until you approve the portrait.
Please keep in mind that revisions can add a few days to the timeline.
If you don’t want the back-and-forth, need your portrait faster, or are happy to trust my artist’s choice, the Jiffy Portrait is the better fit. It’s simpler, quicker, and delivered without a preview round.
Portrait Object Orders
What’s my Portrait ID? I don’t know it!
No worries. I just need any bit of info to match you with the correct portrait. You could just enter you + your pet's name. Or can also include an order number, email address, or any other detail that helps me identify you. These things are in various emails, receipts, or the "Portrait Preview" I may have sent.
Still unsure? Send me an email. I’m a real person, and we can figure it out. Robots are not running things around here. Yet.
Do you still have my portrait, or do I need to find the digital download?
I still have it! No need to search through your old emails or downloads. If you’ve ever ordered from my portrait studio—even if you were one of my very first customers—I have your original artwork files, name art, and other design elements safely stored.
When you order a new print or product, I’ll pull up the correct artwork and place it properly for you. I just need enough info to identify you and your pet, such as your name and your pet’s name. No frazzled search required.
My print came out weird. What should I do?
Oh no!! Please email me so I can take a look and try to make it right. Sometimes a printing error happens, or maybe I missed something.
Because these items are custom-made, I don’t automatically do standard returns. But I do want to see what happened and will do my best to find a fair solution. I truly want you to be happy with what you ordered, not stuck with something that doesn’t feel right.
More Questions
Why aren’t there any customer reviews here yet?
Gah! I haven’t finished setting up the review section yet. It’s on my list. But the lack of testimonials doesn’t mean a lack of happy customers.
I’ve been creating custom pet portraits and putting them on prints and products since June 2025, with a steady stream of orders along the way (thank you everyone!). I also order and inspect a sample of every type of print or product before I offer it in my shop, so I know exactly how everything looks and feels in real life.
The review section will be up soon—until then, I’m focused on making sure every order that goes out is something I’d be excited to receive myself.
That's it? I have a different question.
